About Santa Fe
Santa Fe, New Mexico is a town rich in culture stemming from a
blend of Native American culture and Spanish-European culture. Its
history originates with the Native American pueblos that have inhibited
this land for many centuries, including the 19 pueblos surrounding New
Mexico. It is known as the oldest capital in the United States and had
is first Spanish contact in the 1500's and is now 400 years old. The
blend of cultures has resulted in a Southwestern culture that has its
own unique cuisine, music, art, and festivals. There are always events
occurring in Santa Fe, especially in the downtown area. The architecture
downtown mirrors the old Hacienda type of style, with adobe buildings
with wooden pillars, flat roofs and a palette of earth colors. Some of
the more popular events include the burning of Zozobra and the Santa Fe
International Folk Art Market. There are many places to visit in the
plaza, including the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Georgia O’Keeffe
Museum, the Loretto Chapel with the miraculous staircase, Historic site
tours and many more. |
